Georgia Scott, American novelist and poet from Boston

Originally from Boston, Georgia Scott has spent most of her life abroad. During the Cold War she worked with dissident writers in Poland. Her poetry and prose reflect both her inspiration and love for the Baltic region where she resides to this day.

Her publications include two collections of poetry, a memoir and a novel. Featured in The Massachusetts Review among other literary journals in the USA, her work has also been translated from English into Bulgarian, Romanian, Czech, Slovak, Polish and Danish for readers in Europe, audiences at festivals and for her televised performances.

Recipient of a Fulbright Award and a doctorate in literature from the University of Gdansk, she is also the author of several books on literary criticism.

For the documentary film "An American Writer in Poland," she was asked "Who is Georgia Scott?" She replied "I'm a wife and a mother, a teacher, a writer, and sometimes on tables, I'm a dancer, too." They cut the words wife, mother and teacher and left her on a table.

Dancing through tears is where her writing will lead you.
